Minimalist

/ / m a i n / /

cny day four was spent with two of my fav people!:)
(Yes i know im horrible, two months later and im still talking about cny-_-)
watched a movie with daniel at home in the morning, which turned out to be rather boring and i fell asleep haha.
i had a brunch appointment with nikks after that so i was prepping hurriedly, but still took an hour to get ready :x
the poor boy had to wait for me the entire hour but surprisingly he was quite interested?!
like..when i was doing my makeup i showed him the power of the eyelash curler and he was like "woah!!!-intrigued face-" hahahah boys... xD

so anyways, brunch was at Lo'Kal, an aussie inspired cafe in the outram estate.
i loved the interior design, its a bit vintage and really cozy.

as usual, selfies before the food arrives.
or should i say, selfies even when the food arrived! heh.

here's what we got!

berries yogurt smoothie
banana bread and yogurt
scrambled eggs, salmon and mushrooms

the banana bread and yogurt was an interesting dish!
its supposedly a healthy dish (acc to nikks) and it felt quite healthy to me cos it wasn't too sweet.
it felt really..natural? cos the sweetness stemmed from the bananas and the bread was only mildly sweet, as compared to usual brunch fares like french toasts which is drizzled with syrup and caramel sauce.
also, the yogurt complemented the banana bread well cos it made it less dry.

we didn't get the other normal items on the menu and instead decided to opt for their "diy your own breakfast set" option, which means you get to choose a few sides to make up your own dish:)
so we got scrambled eggs, salmon and mushrooms!
i'd have to say, all pass with flying colours!
the scrambled eggs' consistency was really good, it was subtly flavourful.
the salmon was a surprise, cos we expected it to be the usual slices of smoked salmon but it came in a whole chunk!
the thing about it being in a chunk is that it tends to be harder, but this one was done so well!
i suspect they torched it, thats why its still really soft.
and the sauteed mushrooms were really fresh and juicy!! (i can imagine D saying eww right now cos he hates muchrooms hahaha)

the geometric tiles were so pretty i had to capture some shots here before leaving!

and then we took our OTD against this greyscale panel, which i liked cos it immediately gives a modern feel to the whole look.
my dress is from Love, Bonito.
its supposed to be a midi btw but because im so petite it ended up as a maxi lol.

till the next;

Serenity

/ / m a i n / /

hola! i'm back with a weekend post:)
so on labour day, i went for a picnic with daniel and a few of his classmates!
it was one of the things on our to do list and i'm glad we tried it!:)
i decided to wear a midi dress for the picnic cos we'll need to sit down on the mat and shorter dresses/skirts would be kinda hard to sit down in.

i'm still very much into stripes so i wore this black and white striped midi from shop ad.el :)
i was super impressed when i opened the package cos the clothing was packed in their own dustbag?:o i've never bought any clothes that came in a dustbag before haha.
anyways, the material for this is neoprene, which feels semi-weighty, smooth and luxe.
sizing wise this suits me pretty well, other than the ptp being abit big.
and length wise its good! ends right below my knees, which is a flattering midi length:)
in real life, this is like, black with white stripes, however in certain lighting it looks abit navy, which i prefer!
also, i'm actually more used to wearing all vertical stripes, so this one was a risk i took, because it combines vertical stripes with diagonal ones, which i wasn't sure if i could pull off or not.
but luckily i think it looks fine!:)

daniel took this set of photos for me:)
hope you guys enjoy the visuals!

here's what we packed for the picnic!
it doesn't seem like alot but we already had a busy time cooking/baking these haha!
dinner menu for the day:
sausage carbonara spaghetti/japanese sesame salad/brownies

we spent our time chatting, kite flying and managed to catch the sunset as well!
the cotton candy pink skies were so dreamy and gorgeous!
marina barrage is a wonderful place for a date haha, especially in the evening:)
and then when we got tired of kite flying, we ended up playing bridge with the poker cards, which was so addictive and fun wheee :)

a very well spent labour day indeed!

Nautical

/ / m a i n / /

i don't know how we did it, but the boy and i managed to get out lazy selves out of the house on a late saturday afternoon for a walk at macritchie!
most of the time we just nua at home, watch a movie, bake (i do all the work pfft) or try new food around spore!
anyway, it was a really nice, relaxing experience:)
there's something calming about the waters and greenery don't you think?
oh wait, it was relaxing until the part where tonsss of monkeys appeared and i got scared haha!

i went out before meeting daniel so i was abit too dressed up for a walk heh.
but macritchie is a beautiful place, so i just took the chance to snap a few pictures!
its my fav spring/summer now, and though spore doesn't have 4 seasons, i'd still like to dress according to season hehe.
so what am i loving this spring/summer?
eyelet and stripes :)

my idea of a perfect summer dress would be a white eyelet dress, effortless and fuss free.
stripes are also very popular this season, but i don't wear it just cos its on trend, but because i genuinely think its so chic and suits my personal style.

my top is from ohvola, skirt from agneselle, flats from h&m.

silly daniel looking sad cos he was hungry hahaha.
oh yes, daniel is still very new at photography so i'm already very proud of him for capturing these shots for me!
most of the time i just position it for him and he clicks the button but well, its a start right? hehe.
btw... noticed my new haircut and colour?;)
i reluctantly cut off a few inches cos my hair ends are like grass (honestly!) and the colour is fading to a yellowish hue which is urgh.
feeling much fresher with the new hair do!:)

we went to upper thomson for some prata afterwards!
cheap and good hehe!
went home with very happy tummies indeed :)

Je t'aime

/ / m a i n / /

short visual post today!:)
top from lovebonito, skirt from jrunway, shoes from sembonia

the day started off at novena, where we had lunch at our favourite udon place, tamoya!
i really love the udon there, its so chewy and springy, i can eat it every week hehe.

then, we headed to bugis to do some shopping!
i'm really not an expert when it comes to guy clothes, so this was a learning experience heh.
i picked out a grey shirt for him, and he bought quite alot of other stuff!!
more shopaholic than me already lor :x
but say first, not i teach him one HAHA.

i'm really thankful to him for always being so patient when it comes to taking otds for me cos i know its not a guy thing.
anyways, i'm really happy with this set of pictures even though its really simple, especially the walking smiley shots which i compiled into a video in instagram (@etherealpeonies)!
i guess taking otds with the boy is more fun and carefree, cos i can show my silly side comfortably, as opposed to photoshoots with people im not as close to.

i got a few enquiries regarding where i got this outfit from, so yes its all listed at the top!
i bought this skirt from jrunway a few weeks back, when they were having some major sales!
jrunway clothes are usually not cheap (average $50+ for tops/$60+ for skirts, $100+ for dresses).
and so i jumped at the chance when they had sales heh!
got this skirt at $39, such a steal yay, and i saw my choir friend sq there so we had a short chat as well!
i've always wanted to try working at some apparel store, you get to dress up in fun clothes from the store everyday hehe!!

okay, i'm heading out now so bye and thanks for reading!!

till the next;

Blue China

/ / m a i n / /

hola amigos!
abit irrelevant but i just felt like saying some spanish today hehe.

i'm so glad my work time is only 3 hours a day, because that means i get to spend time with loved ones and not miss out on quality time with them!
so some time back i had a hearty italian lunch with momsie to counter em midweek blues!

we dined at cugini, an authentic traditional italian trattoria.
87 Club Street
#01-01 Singapore 069455

the restaurant had a cornflower blue theme and it was oh so lovely.

we got the truffle ravioli and parma ham pizza.
the ravioli may not look very appetizing but i assure you it was da bomb! soo good.
the pizza on the other hand was only so-so imo, the ham was good but pizza crust abit lacking.

the store front was so pretty, but sadly i got photobombed by another customer who was sitting at the porch hmm.

 porcelain printed top- topshop
white pleated maxi skirt- threadtheory
(i'm wearing xs for the skirt and it fits well!)

looking abit washed out here cos i was feeling bloated/abit unwell from eating too much lol.
also, a lip colour would have made a world of a difference!
definitely gonna stash a lippie in my bag the next time!

till the next;
