Silverlight

/ / m a i n / /

hi guys!!
im back with my monthly hair update!:)
this time, i decided to go for grey highlights!
i absolutely loved my blonde hair, but while i'm still young i thought i'd experiment with other colours as well!

nic gave me a total hair colour change.
he changed my base colour to a dark ash brown (which looks like black at first but eventually will fade to brown as you guys will see very obviously).
and he gave me silvery grey highlights as i requested!

as you can see here my base colour is alot darker than previously, in real life it almost looked black!
i had abit of difficulty adjusting to it cos i've had consistent brown hair for years now.
but dark hair was a nice change while it lasted, it makes one look younger haha.
nic told me that the highlights will have a blue-ish purple tone at first, and true enough it was!
it was quite cool la having blue highlights for a few days before it started fading to silver grey haha.
this was the second day after the hair colour job!
i loved the contrast of the grey highlights against the darker base, it really makes the highlights pop!

and this was hmm, about a week and a half to two weeks after the hair colour job?
i washed my hair everyday using a scalp shampoo, which doesn't have colour retaining properties, so my hair colour faded really fast!
as you can see here my base colour lightened alot, it became brown again haha, like magic right!
and if you look closely at this picture, the highlights are really very very nice:)))
i wish it could have stayed at this colour and stop fading hahah
here's a hair mugshot taken in the salon around the same time, (1.5-2weeks!)
love how the highlights are beautifully blended in naturally!
if you see the bottom right of my hair ends, you can see subtle grey highlights peeking out hehe.

3 weeks after the hair colouring!
3-3.5 weeks after!
highlights turned to a light ashy cool brown instead of grey!
about a month after!
sadly the base colour faded quite a bit! into a warmer brown, and i personally prefer cool browns.
but thats the thing about asian hair, we have red pigments in our hair, so no matter what colour of brown we apply, even though it may be a cool brown at first, eventually it'll fade to a warm, copper shade of brown (which i detest urgh).
the only way for it to remain a cool brown and not change is if you bleach your hair, which is why highlights usually dont fade into warmer tones but remain cool toned.

see what i mean about the base colour fading into a coppery warm tone??
need to get it touched up soon!
but on the bright side the highlights are looking so fine!!
it faded into a cool ashy blonde-grey heheh.
side view just to show you guys why i love highlights- it adds more dimension to your hair!
rather than a single block colour.
and this is the most recent photo!
taken during cny:)
can't wait to look for nic to touch up on those warm browns!!
but i still got lots of compliments on this hair colour even though it faded:)

please remember to ask for nic as your stylist because his hair colouring skills are so mad good!!

Gypsy

/ / m a i n / /

hello!!
im back to share a lookbook photoshoot i modelled for:)
this brand shouldn't be unfamiliar to you guys as i've been modelling for them for quite some time now (when my schedule permits that is!)

this time we worked on an accessory shoot and it was quite different i must say!
enjoy the visuals!

my pick for this collection will be the simple but really pretty seashell necklace in the second last photo!
its really dainty and simple but still beautiful.
not sure if you guys can see it clearly but it has a shiny shell base and a pearl in the middle of it.
the turquoise pieces are also pretty unique, it'll be more of statement pieces i would say, as compared to the seashell necklace which is a classic to me.

shop this collection now at Pyzis.

//

other than accessories, this is the period of time when everyone's frantically looking for cny clothes right? (me included!!)
so i thought i'd share some of my picks from zalora, where i ended up getting my cny outfits from:)
this is non sponsored btw, i was just panicking that day over cny outfits then i decided to give zalora a go and whoaaaa i was so impressed by their huge selections!!
managed to score my cny outfits at one go hehe!

okay i'll admit i got sidetracked halfway while shopping for cny clothes haha, ended up buying stuff for daily wear to school too!
my favourite sandals from the editors market was peeling already after much turmoil from the rain :(
so its time to look for a replacement!
i liked these 2 below!
it helped that the prices are so friendly as well!:)
ps/ got additional 15% off the prices somemore cos i got a zalora code remember!! share it again with u guys later:)

end up i chose this one below!!
its like a dupe for birkenstock's rio, a design that i've been eyeing for the longest time ever but didn't bear to get cos it was aboutt $150sgd?! :(
so u can imagine i was super elated to see this!!
the design is practically the same hehe.

oh this was my second pick!!
i have too many white shoes but omg, cannot resist?!
gonna cart this out together with my mum after she decides on her zalora loots :)

and this omg.
L O V E.
topshop shoes are usually super pricey, like $100 and up so i was really surprised and delighted to see this at a rly good price?!
and the design is just perfection!!
so sleek!!

after much digression i finally moved on to clothes haha.
ok actually, still digressing, cos i looked at casual clothes i could wear to school lol!
these were a few!!
ribbed top at $17.90 before discount? G E T.

these below aren't really for my age (yet), but i thought it'd be nice to share that zalora has alot of workwear clothes also??
and at very affordable prices!!
usually ladies in the office would shop at like, say, G2000, or like dorothy perkins etc, which isn't the most pocket friendly sometimes.
so this is a really good alternative!:)

these are pretty yet suitable for officewear too!!

and of course, for people my age, there's A L O T of choices!
i was totally aiming for this bralet top, the cut and print so nice hehe.
and after discount its like less than $20 :o

these were nice too!!
so many temptations haha

and yes, finally after digression, i moved on to something abit dressier for cny!!:)
i liked both these dresses!
the coral tangerine shade is so cny hahaha.
and i just can't get over stripes, soooo pretty!!
(oh if u noticed, ellysage is a local brand, these are available at their official website too but like, if buy on zalora got discount so... hehe.)

after so many years, still a sucker for floral maxis hahahaha.
but these are way too gorgeous!!

black is a favourite for alot of girls cos of its slimming effect, so i thought this would be a rather popular choice!

oh and i discovered that they got this new section called korean fashion haha.
its not bad leh, they got a mix of girlier clothes and more korean street fashion chic!
if i were still as girly as last time i'd totally go for these below haha.

but now i'd totally be eyeing these instead hehe!!

ok i hope this mini cny shopping catalogue was useful?:)
so excited for my zalora loots to arrive yay!
oh yes, and remember to use my code ZBAPQF9W for 15% off your purchase!:)

PS/ i've just joined snapchat so add me up at @etherealpeonies to take a peek into what i do daily!
and of course, dayre for more frequent updates :)

Gridlock

/ / m a i n / /

i'm back with another hair post!!
your monthly dose of hair news hehe.

i visited headlines again a day before jetting off to spain to get my hair prepped for the trip!
this time i did the scalp treatment and the mucota treatment for hair.
details of both treatments can be found here cos i did the same combo last time!:)
its important to do a scalp treatment from time to time (once a month at least) because if you don't treat your scalp with care, you can't get healthy hair!
its always a good time in the salon, chatting with nic makes time pass by quickly:)
after 2 hours, voila, fabulous hair hehe!
photos from this post are all taken using my new baby, the canon g7x!
kindly recommended by D's (and my) friend jasper!:)
as much as i love my sony nex f3, sometimes the colour is rly off (like orangey-yellowish) and i cant stand those tones, so i got this cam for when those problems occur!
this cam is also alot more compact and photo quality is up to standard, so its definitely a good buy to me!!
if you guys are keen to know more details abt this cam, don't hesitate to ask me on ask.fm!:)
nic also asked me if i wanted to change my highlight colours to grey becos previously i couldn't decide between grey or blonde highlights!
apparently a new shade of grey just came in and its awesome!!:)
but i told him i love my current hair colour so much i want to keep it for a few more months before going for grey highlights (which are damn dope btw!)
if you want super nice and blended in highlights like mine, do ask for nic at headlines cos his hair colouring techniques are so so good!
nic told me a few of you have been asking for me exact same hair colour at headlines so i hope you guys like it as much as i do yes?:)

super chio hand blown curls!
no need for hair curling tongs hehe.

please remember to ask for nic as your stylist because he's so skilled and awesome :)

after my hair appt i met up with zia for early dinner and she helped me snap some photos!!:)

 act candid only hahaha

my navy grid dress is from runwaybandits!
love the shift dress cut, its so comfy and goes easy on the tummy esp after a meal hehe.
the material is good too, it feels kinda like wool to me, gives off the expensive feel as compared to cotton hahaha.
the only thing i dislike about this dress is that the pockets are fake sobs.
like, i must have pockets in my dresses!! (sobs)

 hair on fleek yay!
look at the beautiful blend of highlights :)))

zia and i went for dinner after that!
we opted for a 15nett set meal by one of the cafes participating in this year's cafe week.
it was very worth it to us as it came with a huge portion of food and a pot of rose tea each.
we could have shared the set actually but we didn't know the portion would be so huge!

each set came with scotch eggs, beef sliders, mozzarella tuna tomatoes, a lemon tart, earl grey cake and coconut cake.
we thought the items were of good quality generally!
and my favourites were the mozzarella tomatoes and earl grey cake.
zia hates tomatoes but she actually liked this one!
the scotch eggs were pretty good too.

ending off with a selfie!!
i'm really glad to have met zia as a friend this year, even though we've been in the same school since nanyang days!
thank you for being my closest friend in fass hehe.

till the next;
xoxo
