Althea

/ / m a i n / /

hello everyone!!
im back with a post before i jet off to spain!:)
i'll still be posting blog entries in spain cos i have drafts prepped already;)
but for daily updates do visit my insta @etherealpeonies!

for today's post i'll be sharing about Althea!
i received this mysterious box from Althea not long ago!

super excited to open this pretty box!!

the fine details on the packaging is worth a mention!
i love the mix of classy gold imprintments on the smooth wine red box, very festive and merry indeed!

tadah!
revealing my box of goodies kindly sent over from the Althea team!!:)
so what is Althea?
Althea is a sg/korea based company that sells korean skincare and makeup products at really really good prices!
they have a wide range of products and brands, including some of my favourites like innisfree, nature republic, the saem, etude house and the face shop!
and by good prices i mean huge discounts!
we all know that in sg there are many korean skincare/makeup flagship stores already, but prices are marked up pretty badly here!
when i saw the prices at Althea, i got a shock (legit)!
some items were going at a whooping 50-80% off!!

and other than having a wide range of products/brands and being super affordable, the best part is that its 100% authentic as its shipped in from korea directly!:)

i'm really thankful to Althea for sending over goodies that i really like and will use!
now lets take a closer look at the contents shall we :)
primera // watery cream alphine berry moisturizer ($35)
the face shop // rice water bright cleansing foam ($6)
innisfree // creammellow lipstick in latte brown ($13.5)
saemmul // cheek and lip tint in red ($5)
the saem // concealer in shade 1.5 ($5)
i've swatched the innisfree lipstick and the colour is pigmented and its really moisturizing!
i've always loved innisfree's product and this one is no exception!:)
Christmas is a season of giving, so i chose saemmul's lip and cheek tint and as a gift to my grandaunt!
she has always loved such versatile products, a single item like this can add a pop of colour to her cheeks for a healthy flush of colour, and create rosy lips!
and the saem's concealer is a dupe for my favourite 3CE concealer!
it provides medium to heavy coverage (with multiple layers) and has 3 shades to suit different skin tones!:)
and not to mention, the lip and cheek tint and the concealer only cost $5 each, so worth it!!
i love the matte white packaging, its simple yet pretty.
and finally, the primera watery cream moisturizer!
honestly, i've been wanting to get this ever since i saw it at SaSa, but it was priced at a whooping $55! and i felt it was abit pricey :/
so when i saw it on Althea at a super good price of $35, theres no reason not to get it!:)
even though its stated to be a 'cream', its definitely not heavy AT ALL and not sticky as well!
absorbs super well and quickly, i really love this product :)
now a look at the finer prints, these are all the benefits i've mentioned above!:)

so go on and do some xmas shopping on Althea and prep your skin to look pretty this xmas!
or you can get affordable yet practical gifts for family and friends!!:)
especially since Althea is having some special xmas promos (read below)!
  1. Free Shipping with purchases above S$30
  2. S$7 off S$50 purchases with code XMAS-SG
  3. Limited Edition Christmas Beauty Box (while stocks last)
  4. Christmas sales and promotions on Althea Korea Singapore!

thanks for reading everyone!!
and thank you once again to the Althea team for sending me such a thoughtful gift this xmas:)
till the next;
xoxo

Primrose

/ / p r e / /

hola. good skin day and unbloated face (yayyy) calls for a few selfies!
lighter makeup on the face today, no mascara, eyeliner, brow mascara etc.
i've been meaning to do a new updated makeup tutorial but i can't seem to load videos on this platform hmm.

also, loving my new pink lippie that looks so natural and pretty in photos!
its slightly pinkier/reddish in real life:)

/ / m a i n / /

spent some time with nics again, this time i was tasked with the job of finding
1)a cafe along the red line, not as far as choa chu kang yet not as far as town
2) while sticking to a budget of about 13 or less

all according to the request of demanding nicole hahahaha.
but yes i managed to find such a place!

les patisseries
Block 186 Toa Payoh Central, 01-428

directions: from toa payoh mrt, walk towards toa payoh central where all the shops under the hdbs are until you reach blk 186. (approx 10mins walk from mrt)

i'm so glad we tried this cafe.
first off, we didn't have to wait at all, the cafe was rather empty on a weekday afternoon.
the price was very reasonable (for the mains we ordered), it came up to 12 per pax.
food quality was decent as well, i was especially impressed by their waffles.
we got the rose lychee waffle and i highly recommend it!
the waffles were really crispy, soft on the inside;
it came with sweet lychee bits and a generous scoop of strawberry rose sorbet, very very refreshing.
the scent of rose wafted as the plate was placed on the table, and it even came with real rose bits, impressive.
this is a really nice, tangy dessert to share and the unique flavour and pairing is a major plus point!
as for the eggs benny, it was alright but definitely not fantastic, i didn't quite like the bread but the salmon was good.

definitely heading back here again to try their other mains, waffles and desserts!
they're famous for their hazelnut tart i think, and horlicks waffles!

nics took my otd for me after brunch and we had fun!
i'm wearing the primrose romper from hvv, a perfect lightweight floral piece for summer!

tq nics for lugging back that heavy bag of 60 masks from korea for me hahaha.
love you much much hehe.

went to work and then dinner with the class after that!
this yy just landed in spore and rushed to join us, much dedication!
expression on point boys ;)

walked over to the merlion place/riverside and admired spore's beautiful night lights.
thought of D as we walked through this area, we love coming here at night just to chill and enjoy the breeze. poor boy was stuck in camp at that time booo.
celebrated eug's bday with a troll cartoon cake (elsa fans anyone?) and made him wear a hipster vest hahaha.
walked over to esplanade and watched the mbs light show from there, then the boys had a few drinks at harry's bar.
i tried like two tiny sips of the fruity champagne and it was BAD. :(
any form of alcohol i've tried before tastes so bad to me..
well, at least the others enjoyed it though!

till the next;

Classic Red Lip

/ / m a i n / /

hello! just a short pictorial post for a classic red lip look i used in my latest lookbook shoot here.
the main features of this look would be the dewy skin, doe eyes and bright red lips.
i would say its slightly korean inspired if you ask me!

i got a few queries on the products used, so i'll address them here quickly.
for the lips, i used silky girl's new matte range lipstick in siren red.
for the eyes, just the usual naked palette 1 & 3.
and lastly, for dewy skin, i added a new product, guerlain's meteorites in claire.
i swirl a fluffy brush over the meteorites and either use it lightly as a finishing powder or to highlight the high parts of the face (cheekbones, nose bridge etc)!
its so pretty and gives off a nice glow without being shimmery (if you get what i mean!)

the colour of the silkygirl lippie is closest here, just a bit brighter/redder.
its definitely not orange like in the other photos.
also, newfound love for the low pony as my daily to go hairstyle, cos its classy, so easy to tie and a great way to beat the heat!

ok thats it for this quick update!
will post again really soon, been doing up lots of drafts lately :)

till the next;

Prom

/ / p r e / /

Sorry this post is so late! Put it off for some time now cos.. well.. doing up this post reminds me of certain things i'd rather not think about. Its not a good time to let my mind run free again, but i forced myself to just sit down and get it done once and for all.

So anyways, i got requests to show you guys what kind of makeup i did for prom, so here's some selfies to show my prom face+hair look!:)

Makeup wise its pretty much the same as my usual, i didn't want to go OTT cos its just not my style.
But, i did blend an additional 2 eyeshadow colours just to give it more depth:)
You can see the blend of colours in another pic below:)

Hair wise, i just curled it with a Philips Curling tong i found at home:)
Easy peasy, done in 5 minutes (not kidding haha).

Here! You guys can see the blend better in this pic:)

I used my Urban Decay Naked Palette 1 & 3 to achieve this look.
Most base colours are from palette 3, but i used the 2 additional colours from palette 1.
If you guys are interested in the tutorial for this subtle rose-plum smoky look just drop me a comment on askfm :)

If you see clearly, theres basically 4 different main hues in this look.
A light pearl shade in the inner corners + blended abit onto the front part of the eyelids, a matte rose-plum shade as the overall base, gold glitter highlights for the center of the lid and buffed with a darker metallic brown shade above the eye socket and outer half.

Here's an upclose of my hairstyle for the day!
Its basically big, loose curls. Very fail proof imo, and instantly classy ;)
Of course it helped that my hair is ash at the bottom half now, which makes the curls stand out more as compared to black.

I was opting for the classy look all the way, so i paired it with an embellished drop earring from Accessorize, which i got during their sale a few months back;)

Here's a prom tip, have a clear idea of the look/style you want for prom at least 2 months before the actual date, then slowly start sourcing for items that will fit the look.
It definitely beats shopping last min, which means you'll have to succumb to higher prices, lesser choices and just...not your perfect/ideal look.

/ / m a i n / /

(the text below were typed in mid december, i don't think i want to change it because of the unfortunate event. sometimes its better to leave things in the raw form, thats when your emotions are true.)

Moving on to pictures taken during the event:)
I actually arranged the pictures according to the main groups of people in my JC life:)

I think it'd be nice to start off with a pic with Miss Tina, my Civics Teacher (aka form tch) in JC:)
Life would have been so different if she wasn't our CT!!
Im so thankful for her cos she's so tolerant of our nonsense all the time, and just very outgoing so we always talk to her more like a friend than a teacher.
It helps that she's quite near our age too i guess hehe.
Love you miss florentina maria widodoooo ;)))
ps/look at her rock that ferragamo inspired belt hehe, so hippppp

Next up, my class, S74!
Definitely one of the most yolo/nonsense/fun/helpful class around.
I love how our class just melds so well together.
Even though there are cliques here and there but everyone can talk to everyone, and that to me is really awesome already:)

Here's a photo with the burdens since they came early!

I specially requested for a pic with chelsea just cos... she's in a dress omg.
Historical moment hahahha.
& happy bday ele!!
All my handsome/gorgeous classmates that night!!
Eug so hamsum teehee
Garreth/bruno mars
RioHC; my dear choristors who've been through some of the toughest times in JC with me.
The girls!
Nezzie and her bright orange gown hehe
Yunmei; One of my best buddies/sectionmate in choir hehe!
My fav sopranos <3

My msia buddy tenn heh.

Also known as tenn the giant.
Like omg tenn can you not spoil market why u so tall huh, i was wearing heels somemore leh that day!! -sobs-

Seal; one of my cutest batchies!
seal's outfit is so unconventional but i like ;)
Swee; the one who always talk nonsense but sometimes sound philosophical hahaha

My LFC; we go back all the way to sec 3 (and sec 1 for some -coughs, u lah sylvia-)
Our secret subgroup;
we have the unglammest photos of each other omg.
if those pictures are shown to public i think i'll die of embarrassment hahaha

One with le bestie.
This is my new display pic for her on my phone LOLOL
One with the other 4/7ers as well!
My boss tham so pretty

And i managed to get one pic with math genius yuan yuan!
last time in sec3/4 whenever we got some math problem we dk how to do we'll just be like "crazy circle circle, this one how do ahhh"
sigh the good times :')
(ps/ crazy circle circle is directly translated from her name feng yuan yuan HAHA)
Candice; my good friend in lower sec!

yes we 3 were once classmates hahaha
<3 (nuff said)

jiayi! my choir friend/sectionmate in nanyang hehe.

Weijin; my OG mate! We still meet up sometimes for photography projects;)
Delwyn; my OG dance partner hahaha

So anyways, while the others were in the ballroom itself for prom, yiyang and i were exploring the area near the hotel and experimenting with night photography!
I'd say its a win-win situation haha, i mean we aren't interested in prom itself, we just wanted to take photos with good friends.
So in the end we got to save on the prom fees (easilly a hundred bucks) AND got to take awesome photos;)

by the way, i got alotttt of queries on where my dress is from!
and some even asked me if its branded lol, so to clarify... no its not:)
i bought it from hervelvetvase, and it cost me about 35-40sgd approx if i rmb correctly.
so yes, who said you have to spend a few hundred bucks on your prom dress? thats a lie haha.
its possible to find a nice dress + keep it within budget ;)

Singapore is beautiful at night.
Newfound love for city lights, though my one true love still stays with the countryside.

blurry shot with yy oops.
thank you for being my photographer hehe!

alright, i'm finally done with this picture laden post.
for those who bombed me with questions on askfm/email about my dress/makeup/hair stuff and whatnot, i hope this post is detailed enough for you guys!

till the next;
xoxo
