Soft Curls

Hey guys!:)) So sometime back i went to Salon Vim for a hairstyle change! It was my birthday month and there was a special offer so i decided to do something other than my usual treatment sessions:) My stylist Joyce suggested that i do a soft perm to add more volume, and im really really glad i did it! Soft perm is basically a process that softens the upper portion of your hair and perms the 1/3 lower half near the hair ends.

Its really important to go to a salon and stylish you trust before making any major changes to your hair, sometimes even a haircut can go awry! The last time i did a perm was like 5 years back, and it was really horrible. The salon i went to was actually quite established, but they hired all prc stylists (not trying to discriminate, just stating a fact that the salon did hire all prcs) and i don't think they are well trained. So basically they made a mess and fried the bottom half of my hair, made it so dry that i couldn't stand it and went to straighten it the next day, end of story lol. Okay learning point? Go to a stylish you trust.

So anyways Joyce did a really awesome job!! I really do love the outcome:) I can't believe my hair can still be soft even after the perm :) the upper half is def much more manageable too after the softening:) two thumbs up!!

It looks very natural when let down, and when tied up it has volume and bounce, just the way i like it :)!

Pricing probably would range for different hair lengths so do call and ask first! For the first 2 weeks or so when i tied it up the curls kinda stuck out in different directions if i did not blow dry using salon-like techniques, which i admit was a little bit annoying.

But when let down it looks super nice and natural. After the first 2 weeks the curls loosen up abit and when i tied it up (even without blow dry or anything) it looked swishy, voluminous, doesn't stick out and so so gorgeous <3 (not my hair la, the effect i mean haha.) So, if you're looking for something really natural and doesn't dry /fry your hair, this would probably suit you! Because of the softening at the upper portion my hair is now much softer, smoother and easier to manage as well.

As for how long this soft perm lasts, according to Joyce it'll stay for as long as you don't cut it. But i think like all chemical treatments the effect will wear off, but if you cut/trim then obviously it goes away alot faster. It has been about 1.5 months and so far the curls are still there, just that it loosened abit from the first 2 weeks and its not say very defined, just adds volume which is definitely still noticeable. It looks more obvious when tied up though.

So anyway! I did up a collage here so you guys can see for yourselves before and after haha. I have to say the "before" was quite meh, cos the random hairdresser i went to over layered my hair and it became super wispy.
FIrst pic above is before, two pics below is after! Its so much more manageable, for the first pic, i tried umpteen ways to tame it and for the 2 pics below i just used a little bit of hair serum and voila, super easy:)

(PS/the two pics are fresh from Willowfawn's photoshoot a few days ago! Upcoming off shoulder knit top ;) Sign up for the mailing list by dropping an email to shopwillowfawn@gmail.com!)

So yups thank you Salon Vim and Joyce!!<3

After that i went to look for some products that is specially meant to maintain curls and here's what i got!
(PS/ got some Loreal products for curls from Salon Vim as well, will show u guys in another post!)

Ma Cherie Perfect Showe Hair Treatment Water (Waves)

I've been using it pretty religiously and it smells super awesome!! Helps hold the curls and make them last longer, have a nicer shape as well:)

Since i was in watsons, picked up some other stuff as well!

KATE Slim Create Powder (For highlighting and contouring)
I've used this alr, its quite subtle and great for building up:) You know how some bronzers just seem too dark and unnatural?>< This one sculpts your cheekbones and contours very naturally:) I don't really use the highlight portion though, cos i still prefer my Canmake highlighter:)
Maybelline Rocket, a new product on the shelve:) Tried it once already, i have long lashes so i don't really go for extending the length, but this one makes my lashes blacker and darker so it looks more defined and have more volume:) It doesn't clump, is waterproof, doesn't melt and can be removed quite easily:) Quite happy with this as well:)
Got this from TANGS!
Benefit's new product- Rockateur
This product to me is like a 2 in 1 blush and bronzer. Because of the slightly darker and warmer shade, on my somewhat light skin colour it has a sculpting effect and adds a glow and pop of colour:) This is actually good for everyday use, gives a natural flushed look:)

Oh and it doesn't look that shimmery in real life! The shimmers are just an overspray, like at the top layer, after a few uses the shimmer will disappear. It definitely isn't too over the top when applied:)

Some random OTDs for brunch/town trips!

Lace and Ebony's Crochet Dress in White, S

Review:
Made of smooth polyester which is very light, white is very slightly sheer even with inner lining. But i don't think its a big problem though! Features a side zip for easy wearing. The length is just nice, ends about 2 inches above the knees which is a flattering length for me. So, the selling point of this dress is the floral crochet/lace details at the waistband, which i admit is quite pretty:) Oh and it has pressed pleats as well. Its a pretty simple dress if you ask me, not much to complain about other than the slight sheerness and i find that the cutting is not flared enough for me. You know how some dresses are cut in at the waist to give a slightly flared cut but its not flared enough to make it super flattering? Yups i think this is one of those dresses!

TVD Summer Embroidered Sundress in Lilac, S

Review:
I don't usually go for these straight cut flowy dresses but it was on sale and i think the lilac embroidery paired with the cream base is really pretty!! I think that this will look nice on slightly taller girls who can pull off the straight flowy look without being overwhelmed. I like the sweetheart cut and its also elasticized at the back for a better fit:) I took S which i think fits UK4-6 best, because the elasticized back may make it abit tight at the PTP for UK8 and above. Its made of rough chiffon which is supposed of better quality than smooth chiffon. Because of my petite frame i have to pair it with the complementary sash so that the cut fits me:) For these kind of dresses, i don't simply tie the sash around, after tying the sash in a ribbon(see pics above), i pull upwards slightly so that the sash is partially covered and above the sash there is a slight poof. This gives more balance and make me look not so "column" shaped haha. Overall im quite happy with this buy! Super digging the lilac embroidery details!!

till the next!
xoxo

If you guys still have any questions regarding the soft perm or any requests for special posts do leave a comment on my askfm! I'll try my best to answer/do up the posts!:)

Dreams

A few days ago i had a dream that made me wake up in a trance and abit shocked.
You know how sometimes dreams can be so real that it scares you or leave you thinking for ages?
Okay, so i dreamt that i met someone at a villa and it was the 'we were meant to be' kind.
Super duper cheesy in words i know!!
BUT okay, in real life i haven't met someone like this before, at least not yet.
And the weird thing is that people who appear in my dreams are usually those i'm very close to, like family, and definitely they are people i know and have seen before in real life.
But this time.. the guy who appeared in my dream, i have NEVER seen him before in real life, yet his face managed to appear so clearly in my dreams, which is super weird!!
And its weird because he doesn't really have much resemblance to my ideal type in terms of looks. (aka Godfrey Gao)
I thought people always say that the person you dream about is the majorly perfect one, that most kinda don't have the chance to end up with cos after all it IS a dream.
But no, this guy was quite normal, decent looking i would say, but nothing extraordinary.
Yet, even when i woke up from the dream and even days after it i kept thinking about it. Its like etched in my mind. Though his face is abit blur now but i think... if i do see him in real life(what are the chances i know but still..) i think i'd be able to recognize him.
Oh gosh this is sounding like a silly infatuation but haha, i rarely have dreams that are so vivid.
Usually the moment i wake up or 10 mins after that i'd forget everything.
This time... the scene of how we met at the villa kept replaying in my mind, and i remember his exact words (not to be mentioned here though hahahah).
Gosh, now i wonder if fate really do exist in real life.
Dreams are such...fuzzy things, but at the same time so enthralling.

Romantic Tulle

Hellooooooo everyone!!
Soooo, nics and i had a happy HTH talk/brunch outing/feasting session to celebrate my birthday:)
Decided to dress up abit cos i was in the mood that day:) Usually i'll be super lazy and nua to bother dressing up :x

ootd;
Top c/o; Kissablebella
Skirt c/o; Lowry's Farm
Clutch c/o; Missingavenue
Shoes c/o; H&M
Accessories c/o; ASOS and Juicy Couture

Fav shot of the day! Thank you mommy for capturing these beautiful shots :)

Review(KSB top):
Priced at about 23, its made of cotton and is generally not sheer. I LOVE the eyelet details its really pretty in real life and adds more dimension to an otherwise simple tube top. Its elasticized at both ends for a better fit. I would say it fits me quite well, doesn't droop nor is it too tight, so it should fit UK4-8 generally well. Its a fuss free top that is really easy to match, it matches like.. almost everything:) For 23 i think its abit overpriced but the pretty eyelet embroidery makes up for it i guess, plus its a basic!

And i'm really loving the effect of the soft perm from Salon Vim!! Its so easy to manage and adds volume, i'm really suited for curls instead of straight hair haha. Joyce(my stylist) knows me best ;) I already did up a more detailed post about the soft perm, its just waiting in line to be published so.. do keep a lookout for it!;)

We dined at Wild Honey (Mandarin Gallery Outlet) cos i really was yearning to try it for the longest time ever!! We didn't make a reservation and had to wait for about half and hour before we got a seat. Its really quite high tech/atas lol. We left our name and contact number via an ipad at their counter and received an automated message "Hi Ms Nicole, we will inform you shortly when your table is available." something along that line. So we just walked around Mandarin Gallery till we received another automated message lol. Talk about atas XD

Yay to a super yums meal with great company. It couldn't have been better :')
Here's what we ordered!
Nics got the Norwegian and i decided on the Scandinavian.
Basically Norwegian is a twist on the classic eggs benny. It features two poached egg topped wrapped with smoked salmon, topped with roe and hollandaise sauce. Comes with asparagus and toasted brioche.
& here's mine! Scandinavian features grilled salmon on rosti, topped with savoury sauce, asparagus and fresh tomatoes.

I really really enjoyed brunch at Wild Honey! I think its safe to say its my fav place to go to for some savoury brunch and good ol eggs benny:) I've tried eggs benny at Hatched, The Fabulous Baker Boy etc but i still think Wild Honey's wins hands down. TFBB's version is somewhat comparable to Wild Honey's but Wild Honey's toasted brioche is definitely tastier. It is crispy and soft and the right places, definitely takes some skill to do this! And it features nuts which enhances its flavour:)

I would think that the one i ordered (Scandinavian) is more worth it than the Norwegian because the portion of salmon is pretty generous and value for money. The rosti loses out to Marche's one though, Marche's rosti is like the best i've tried so far:) Though the Norweigian is not that value for money, but it wins in taste:) Total bill came up to about 30 per pax, including 2 main meals and drink which we shared. Oh! And do try their signature mocktail Queen Bee if you're there! Its super good and refreshing ;)

And then after having brunch we walked around to shop for awhile, had HTH talks and stuff:) Then... went searching for food again being gluttons we are :x Decided on Cold Stone Creamery at Orchard Central cos we both LOVE their apple pie ice cream!! Its the best!!

Haha and then... we take silly photos cos we're silly billies

We be curly wurly hair friends hahaha
(PS/ compare the quality of iphone's front cam and my Sony NEX... -_- sometimes bringing out my bulky cam is worth it)

It was a great day out with nics! So happy to have finally tried Wild Honey, and of cos just catching up with each other:) Simple but so meaningful.

& then.. what's up in school?? nothing much actually, just being goofy as usual!

LFC celebrated my bday for me in school! One day before the actual day so i have to say i was surprised, cos i was expecting it to be on the actual day itself! This seah distracted me by saying she wanted to go the toilet/was upset with her results and wanted to talk about it, while the rest set up the area and prepped the cake. And i actually fell for it cos i was worried for seah wth. Feel so cheated!! And then on the way to the canteen this magical seah whipped out a scarf and attempted to blindfold me but it was more like lynching lol!! And then she nv direct me properly lol, almost fell down the stairs while being blindfolded @.@ Eventful day much hahahhahaa.

This be the present and cake they got for me:) TY GUYS<3 Oh and about the cake...
-One day before the surprise-
Ping:" Chee do you like hello kitty?"
Me:"-no reply-"
Ping:"-calls-"
Me:"still no reply"
.
.
.
Me:"calls back"
Ping:"omg chee do you like hello kitty? please say yes."
Me:"No. -_-"
Ping:"what the.."
Me:" You dont know meh i hate hello kitty"

-In my bday plan whatsapp grp-
Ping:"OMG CHEE SAYS SHE HATES HELLO KITTY"
Seah:"WHAT THE!! I buy the cake already!!"
Ping:"Aiya sua la sua la..."

And... that was the story about how they bought this hello kitty cake which they thought i liked hahahhaa. But its okay la, i'll still like it cos they put so much effort into it:)

with my llamas, love yall!! And just look at spastic seah cannot tank her face hahahhaha
I was really very touched and super happy that day. Becos of exams and stuff we haven't met up as a full group of 10 in a really long time. And seeing every single one present there that day made me so happy cos i sincerely missed everyone!!
Thank you guys once again, yall are the BEST :')

Till the next,
xoxo
